Brian and Sheila Manning opened Su-Bridge Pet Supplies in 1976 by establishing boarding facilities for their kennel business. While boarding pets, they noticed that many pet owners returned from their vacations without being able to purchase food for their pets before leaving. To address this need, they began delivering a bag of dog food with each pet boarding reservation. Eventually, this service grew to eventually be the foundation of SU-Bridge Pet Supplies.
When SU-Bridge first started, it consisted of one man (Brian Manning) in a van delivering sacks of dog food and providing transportation for sales representatives throughout East Anglia. Currently, SU-Bridge employs a highly respected and professional staff of 80 people in the warehouse and office areas, and a fleet of lorry drivers, all far removed from the days when it was a one-man operation.
Since it began in a chicken coop, SU-Bridge has recently expanded its operation to include a fifth warehouse located in Norfolk, England, which has added over 100,000 square feet of storage space for pet food, pet supplies, and accessories nationwide via retail locations across the United Kingdom.
Although SU-Bridge still sells a significant amount of dog food, the product offerings continue to increase, with a diverse array of both branded and store brand pet food, pet supplies, and accessories now available throughout the UK.
